Detailed program overview:

Package program

On arrival at our center you will be given the equipment needed for rafting. Everyone gets neoprene wetsuits designed for a long stay in the water, which will protect you from the cold water of the Tara River. You also need shoes, that is boots, also made of neoprene, a life jacket, and helmets. You wear all equipment over your swimsuit or shorts.

The drive from our camp to the rafting starting point takes about an hour.

After arriving at Brštanovica, the skippers - boat drivers - assign you to boats, where they will give a short briefing, that is a course on how to behave on the boat. The boats used for rafting are professional boats built specially for rafting and designed to withstand the playful rapids of the Tara River.

Each boat has waterproof bags in which you can put some basic things.

We advise you to bring your GoPro cameras. If you don't have one, you can rent a camera from us and capture unforgettable moments of rafting.

During the rafting you can expect more than 30 exciting rapids (the best known are Ćelije, Borovi, Varda…) that will take your breath away with their power and speed and give you a real feeling of adventure and adrenaline.

Somewhere around the middle of the descent we will take a break and see who has the courage to pass the "manliness test", that is, to bathe in an icy waterfall whose temperature is barely 5 °C.

You will also have the chance to swim in the Piva River - a river with incredibly clean water. After rafting on the Tara, we continue on the Drina to our center.

After some 2-5 hours, which is how long the descent itself lasts, we arrive at the foot of the rafting center. Returning the equipment and warm water follow, which you will find immensely pleasant after the cold water of the Tara River.

We serve lunch when you return from rafting.

For lunch you will have the chance to try homemade veal čorba, a fresh village salad, and as the main course veal under the sač with potatoes. All dishes are prepared on the spot, in our kitchen, from mostly organic ingredients from the nearby villages. For dessert we serve homemade cakes - sour cherry cake, wafers, walnut pies, čupavci…

Frequently asked questions and answers:

Rafting boats are usually designed for 6-8 people, plus the skipper. However, there are also larger boats for groups of up to 12-14 people.

Is it necessary to book in advance for rafting on the Tara?

Yes, during the rafting season (May - October) booking in advance is recommended, especially at weekends and for larger groups.

What is included in the price of rafting?

The price of €65 per person includes transport from our centre to the starting point, 25 km of rafting on the Tara with full equipment (wetsuit, boots, life jacket and helmet), a hearty lunch after rafting, and fees, tickets and permits. Drinks at the camp and personal expenses are paid separately.

Do I need to know how to swim to go rafting?

It is recommended that you can swim, but you do not need to be an Olympic swimmer. You will be given a life jacket, and the skipper is there for emergencies.

Is rafting on the Tara safe?

We run rafting on the Tara with licensed skippers, and all participants are insured during rafting. Before departure you receive a wetsuit, boots, a life jacket and a helmet, and the skipper gives a short briefing on how to behave in the boat. The boats are professional and built for the rapids of the Tara.

What other activities are available besides rafting on the Tara?

Besides rafting we offer canyoning on the Hrčavka river, a zip line in the canyon, horse riding on the rim of the Tara canyon, a visit to Trnovačko Lake and a tour of Sutjeska National Park and the Perućica forest. The camp also has table football, darts, chess and other games.

When is the best time to go rafting?

You can come rafting at any time during the season (May - October). Weekdays are less crowded and weekends have larger groups. At the start of the season the water level is higher, so there is more adrenaline; at the end of July and in August the water level is lower and rafting is slower, which suits families.
